We wanted to notify all of our existing customers that we’ll be performing scheduled maintenance (hardware upgrades) on our Simple Mail servers on Friday, March 25th starting at 6AM EST. We anticipate this process will take between 1 and 2 hours and have scheduled a two hour maintenance window from 6-8AM EST. We will keep you posted with status updates on Twitter. You can follow us at @popdotco to receive the latest news and updates.

Who’s Affected?

During the scheduled maintenance window, users will be unable to login to the webmail client. Inbound emails will also be placed in a mail queue until maintenance has completed. At the completion of our maintenance window, emails in the queue will be delivered. You will likely be unable to send messages during this time.

What You Need to Do

If you have pointed your Name Servers to a third party host or registrar and are using Simple Mail, you will need to create the following new DNS MX record to ensure email will be queued during our scheduled maintenance window. If you are not sure how to do this, you will need to contact your hosting provider or registrar’s support team and provide them with the following information:

Record Type MX
Hostname @
(your root domain: some registrars and DNS services use ., an empty string, or the domain name itself)
Content/Value simplemail3.pop.co
Priority 20

If POP is managing your Name Servers, you do not have to do anything. We’ll have automatically updated your DNS records for you via Simple DNS. Just another great reason you should keep your Name Servers pointed at POP!

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support staff.
